Medicom® Duraflor® Ultra™ White 5% Sodium Fluoride Varnish features a fast-acting, easy-to-apply formula and delicious flavours sweetened with xylitol making it the preferred varnish of dentists and patients. Next-generation formula delivers our fastest fluoride release (data on file).

Comes in four flavours - Mint, Strawberry, Cherry, Bubble Gum - and two packaging options (200 units and 30 units). Each unit is a 0.4 ml unit dose.

Does not contain gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, sesame, corn, shellfish, egg or dairy products.

The prescribed treatment schedule for Medicom Duraflor Ultra White 5% Sodium Fluoride Varnish


  1. Clean teeth and remove obvious plaque and calculus from area to be treated. For best results, remove any excess moisture from the tooth surface.

  2. Open the unit dose by gripping the tray and slowly peeling back the foil cover, exposing the brush applicator and varnish well.

  3. Remove applicator brush and thoroughly stir the varnish in the well until it appears to be uniformly mixed.

  4. Paint a thin layer of varnish onto treatment area using broad, even strokes.

  5. Let the varnish dry for approximately 10 seconds and then instruct patient to close their mouth.

  6. When dry, any excess varnish may appear “spotty” and may slide off the tooth surface. This will not affect the efficacy of the product as there is still a full layer of varnish on the tooth.

  7. Dispose of package and applicator after use.

  8. Patient may leave immediately after treatment. Patient should be advised not to brush teeth for a minimum of 2 to 4 hours after treatment.

Duraflor Ultra™ White 5% Sodium Fluoride Varnish is available in 200-packs (each unit is a 0.4 ml unit dose) with the following flavours:

Q: What are the main recommendations following treatment with Duraflor Ultra?

A: Patient should be advised not to brush or floss and to eat only soft foods and avoid hot drinks and any product containing alcohol (i.e., beverages, oral rinses, certain medications, etc.) for at least 2-4 hours following treatment. Following the 2-4-hour wait time, patient should brush and floss to remove any remaining varnish.

Q: Does Duraflor Ultra contain peanuts?

A: Duraflor Ultra does not contain gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, sesame, corn, shellfish, eggs or dairy*. *Caramel flavour contains milk butter acids; other flavors do not contain any dairy.

Q: Does Duraflor Ultra contain dyes?

A: No. Duraflor Ultra does not contain dyes.

Q: Are there any contraindications for the use of Duraflor Ultra?

A: Patients with known allergic reactions to fluoride, colophony or similar rosin materials, as well as those with ulcerative gingivitis or stomatitis should not use Duraflor Ultra. Patients should avoid ingestion during application.

Q: Are there any interactions associated with Duraflor Ultra?

A: When Duraflor Ultra is applied, other fluoride preparations, such as gels or foams, should not be administered on the same day to avoid any adverse reactions. The routine use of fluoride tablets and rinses should be interrupted for several days after initial treatment.

Q: Duraflor is sweetened with xylitol. What is xylitol?

A: Xylitol is a sugar alcohol sweetener used as a naturally occurring sugar substitute. It is found in the fibers of many fruits and vegetables. Xylitol is roughly as sweet as sucrose with only 2/3 of the calories.

Q: Does this come with a brush?

A: Yes, each individual dose comes with its own brush applicator.

Q: Does Duraflor Ultra varnish contain nickel or glycol in it?

A: No, Duraflor® Ultra™ White 5% Series Sodium Fluoride Varnish does not contain nickel and glycol.

Q: Does this product have sodium lauryl sulfate?

The Duraflor® Ultra™ White 5% Sodium Fluoride Varnish does NOT have sodium lauryl sulfate.

Q: Is there an age limit for the Duraflor Ultra?

A; Yes. There is an expiry date on our fluoride varnish products. This information can be found on the sticker of the package below the LOT number.
