Medicom® SafeMatrix™ Single-Use Matrix Bands are pre-assembled single-use matrix bands that are suitable for all MO/OD and MOD cavities, as well as for cusp build-ups and as a protective shield for the neighbouring tooth during preparation. They may be used with all restorative materials and with wedges and rubber dams. Narrow neck and rounded edges provide easy access and optimal visibility during treatment. Eliminates the risk of injuries to gingiva and cheeks often caused by sharp edges or corroded surfaces on metal holders.

Other features and benefits include:

  • push-button diverter - creates band angulation to ensure tight interproximal contact
  • slim handle
  • textured grip
  • improved thumbscrew grooves for added convenience and control

SafeMatrix matrix bands create a smooth external surface against which restoration material can be packed and:

  • Accelerate the restoration process
  • Save valuable chair time
  • Increase patient comfort and safety
  • Improve results

Available in two sizes:

  • 6 mm for molars and larger restorations
  • 4.5 mm for pre-molars and children’s teeth

Each matrix band is individually packaged. As a single-use product, it does not require reprocessing. No assembly required. Also available in the contoured option - SafeMatrix Contour - with being pre-contoured to tooth shape and having a longer band for larger teeth.

Indications for Use:
  • Especially useful when sectionals can’t be used
  • Large gaps exist between teeth
  • Adjacent tooth is missing
  • Large and wide interproximal box
  • Cusp replacement
  • Large MOD cavities
  • Amalgam restoration

How to Use Medicom SafeMatrix Single-Use Matrix Bands

  1. Preparing SafeMatrix: Before use, adjust the push-button deflector to suit the mouth quadrant in which the SafeMatrix is being used.

  2. Positioning SafeMatrix: The push button diverter should be positioned closest to the gum-line to ensure the correct fit around the tooth.

  3. Tightening SafeMatrix: Fit the band around the tooth and tighten by turning the deep-groove thumbscrew clockwise. Apply wedges and shape the band using a suitable burnishing tool if required.

  4. Restore tooth: Perform restoration using normal clinical procedure.

  5. Removal: To remove the band, first loosen it by turning the handle 2-3 turns anticlockwise.
